Crew Member - Andy Gunby

Lifeboat crews are mostly volunteers, who come from all walks of life, and give up their time and comfort to carry out rescues and save lives at sea on the lifeboats. They respond at a moment's notice, no matter where they are or what they are doing when the pager goes off. Crews are regularly called away from their families, their beds and their work, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

First Shout: 3rd June 2005 - Lifeboat Open Day been at the boathouse all day. 9pm that evening launched to reports of missing girl off Llanbedrog head. After an extensive search including helicopter, thankfully the girl was found safely ashore. Returned to station, washed down boat, left for home approx. 11:30pm.
Memorable Shout: Everytime you go out on the boat its memorable. You get to meet some fantastic characters and use fantastic equipment.
My most memorable call would have been on the 23rd Sept 2007. Not for the call itself, just for the superstar who we assisted. After the lifeboat helping him he has undertaken many amazing fundraising events for the station.
He's been on Radio, TV and Internet advertising the RNLI. Also sending a very touching letter of thanks, which makes what we do worthwhile.
Hobbies: Anything active.
Likes: Getting wet & having a nice pint.
Dislikes: Holes in socks.
